As many as 45 million Americans went without health insurance coverage at some point during the last year. Many of these people may not have obtained needed medical care as a result, and all took a significant financial gamble. The National Association of Health Underwriters, a professional association of more than 20,000 health insurance agents, brokers and benefit specialists, is extremely concerned about the problem of the uninsured. One of our primary goals is to help ensure that Americans have access to appropriate health coverage. To address this problem, we have partnered with the Foundation for Health Coverage Education to help make American health care consumers aware of all of the coverage options available to them.

The Foundation for Health Coverage Education (FHCE) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that offers several health coverage resources targeted at decreasing the number of uninsured Americans. FHCE's toll-free U.S. Uninsured Help Line 800-234-1317 is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in 141 languages. The Help Line is staffed with friendly health coverage experts who can: describe the public or private health coverage options for which the caller may be eligible, connect a caller to representatives from various health coverage programs and assist in finding special resources pertaining to the caller's unique health coverage situation.

Health Care Options Matrix is a user-friendly health coverage guide that outlines every state's public and private health care options for groups, individuals, and families. The Matrix features a complete overview of the options available for almost every demographic profile, as well as a quick-reference list of phone numbers and websites. See the link to the Matrix at the top of the page.
